I've had my current Whyte Stirling for a while now and been pondering on buying a new bike.
Is there anything else that stands out for £1099?

Space Cadet...(3rd Class...)
Good bikes, although as time goes on the spec seems to be getting a bit lower.I have the 2014 Montpellier in my fleet and it is my favourite. So comfortable, full carbon, good spec. The next year they went to a 1 x 11 chainset which I wouldn't want on what is effectively a flat bar road bike. The stirling has kept with a double chainset.

Hubster has a Whyte Kings Cross and he has ridden many more miles on it than he has his Carbon Roadie. Smooth ride, comfy for miles, disc brakes. Excellent value for money.
I think you would struggle to do better

Thanks all for your replies. I thought I might struggle to improve on this.
I just felt maybe it wouldn't feel like getting a new bike by just replacing it with the same
I do like the subtle orange detailing ( wheel nuts & stem face plate) and the newer one has orange hubs too which look great. It now has internal cabling and thinner seat stays which supposedly make for an even comfier ride.

Love the looks of Whyte bikes.

However your question is a fairly open-ended one...you say VFM, which I'd associate more with a Btwin Triban flat bar..

The Triban doesn't have anywhere close to the same spec however. Spec for spec (components) compared to a comparable Specialized for example, the Whyte likely offers better vfm

I guess all you can do is test ride a few alternatives. Evans do no quibble test rides on anything they have in stock

I looked at Ridgebacks in the past as an alternative to Whyte

Could try this out too

From an aesthetic viewpoint I prefer the Whyte to these and it has carbon forks.
I did like the look of this Orro but was put off when saw quite a few comments about bottom bracket issues. Also some wheel problems.

Maybe I worded it wrong- as Vickster says, what I meant was is there a better spec, better looking bike for the same price as the Whyte.

It's over the limit no?
It is now, but presume I could pay £99 in cash. It was £999 last year and they said 10% would be added to cover their admin costs- not sure if they all do that. Would shop around.
