Less than 9 stone, fitting into 28" slim fit jeans, Oh I remember those long lost days.

You're 17 don't worry about it, beer and kebabs will sort that out in due course

I stayed roughly 9 and a half stone between 16 and 21. Now coming up to 23 and have managed to put a stone on or so. Coincidentally this weight started to go on not very long after meeting my lady friend.

Beer and kebabs won't necessarily sort you out - I've been 58/59kg and 170cm for about 28 years, never changes whether I exercise or not, drink plenty of Guiness or not.

I'm 48, slim build, I have never been able to put weight on either.
Since returning to cycling, I have lost weight, look like a whippet. Better than being fat I suppose!

My advice is do heaps of mountain climbing on your bike!. Sounds like you have the "climbers" physique, you lucky bastard.

My thoughts exactly as your weight can be dependent on your body type , it gets really confusing whne you can have a endomorphic top with an ectomorphic lower body.Take me for example i have a meso/ecto upper body but meso /endo legs .I have hovered just under 11 stone for over 20 years and i am 5 foot 7 "

This article also suggest diets for body types...

Someone who dieted hard to get to your height/weight combination might be underweight. Someone who eats well, feels well and has the energy for plenty of exercise is just naturally slim. Enjoy it, as other's have said, you'll be very lucky if it lasts through your 20s.

I'm 5'10" and weighed 9 1/2 stone when I got married at the age of 21, by the time I was 25 I was 11 stone and stayed there or thereabouts until I was early 30s. I could eat what I wanted, led a fairly active life but did no specific "exercise".

Then the pounds started to come on, a few months before my 39th birthday I was over 15 stone and wearing 40" waist trousers. I'm 40 next week and am now 11 stone again and 32" waist, it's been harder work to loose it than it was to gain it.

So my advice is don't worry, but if you do start to add the pounds, keep a watchful eye on it. If you want to bulk up a bit then weight / strength training is probably a better way than cycling or running.

I agree with all the comments above, you are what you are, you will get heavier as you get older, I wouldnt worry about it, I am 5ft7 and my weight varies from 11 stone to 12 stone, technically I am overweight for my height but that doesn't take into account muscle mass, I eat reasonably well, enjoy a beer or 2 and put a bit more effort in on the bike when I've had a treat, I don't think there is anyone out there who is totally happy with their appearance, but what you will find as you get older is that you will care less and enjoy life more, I'm 35 now and i finally accept I am what I am

I'm 44, eat healthily, don't eat any crap at all, don't drink or smoke, play squash a lot and cycle quite a lot.

I look like crap and feel like crap.

At 17, just enjoy life and stop worrying.

As everything above. I vaguely remember being 17 and although I'm a bit taller than you, I certainly didn't weigh much more, making up for it now though, unfortunately you'll likely look back at some stage in your life and regret saying;
"I can eat what I like and not put on weight!"

However, if I may, on a more serious note, you're obviously not a big fella, but having watched all your videos you can appear to be rather confrontational with your language, just be careful out there mate

Enjoy it while you can and heed the advice of Red Dwarf's Arnold J Rimmer

"When you're younger you can eat what you like, drink what you like, and still climb into your 26" waist trousers and zip them closed. Then you reach that age, 24-25, your muscles give up, they wave a little white flag, and without any warning at all you're suddenly a fat bastard"

You'll see....

I am wondering if my weight is normal for someone of my age? I am 17 and weigh 8 stone 7, and that has not changed for 1/2 years now.

It's not 'age' that's the difference it's metabolism. There are some people out there who can eat anything and not put on weight, and others who have to work very hard to keep weight off. I'm pretty lightweight (but am a girl!) - been under 50kgs since I had my wisdom teeth out - before then I was always around 50kgs (wisdom teeth lost me 5kgs in about 2 weeks). Well, probably under 50kgs. I don't own a scale. On the BMI index I normally come up as underweight or at the very least borderline, but I'm not 'stick thin' and I do have fat deposits etc, so I'm happy with my weight, it fits my frame.

I also don't diet, never have and probably never will. It's in the genes.

My uncle has the same genes and did try valiantly to put on weight (bulk up) with creatine (spelling?) etc and gymming, but it's never really going to happen for him. He's now about 65 yrs old.
