Well how can two days be so different.
Yesterday I rode out to Birling Gap from Eastbourne via a valley on my compact geared Orbea Onyx and although it was made more difficult by riding in to 16mph head winds I really struggled up the hills to Beachy Head having to stop more times than I wanted to. It was only due tenacity that I managed to complete my 18mile route.
But today I went out on my Bianchi Triple although not using the smallest chain ring and although it was a less hilly route and winds were lower at 10mph I managed to ride 22 miles.
So I am wondering now whether I was just having a bad day yesterday or contrary to what I have read many times compact gearing is just not for me.
Have you had a similar experience.

Sometimes Compact is to compact and you cant get comfy in your rhythem.

I have a route I use on a regular basis, how well I go and how hard it feels varies with the weather and how I feel on the day. The same thing probably happens to you as well.

I'm supposed to keep the junk out of my diet for health reasons, but it can creep in, I'm having a bit of a purge at the moment, and though I'm not actually dieting I've lost half a stone, if it continues and I can drop another half a stone I'll be down to my best cycling weight, 11 stone, and that will add more enjoyment to my cycling.
