Is it me or is riding harder in the winter?

In between here and there
My oft repeated mantra, winter miles, summer smiles. Keeps me going. Couple of people I know stop in Oct and re-surface when it gets warmer March\April. Takes them till August to feel like they have got their fitness back then 6-8 weeks feeling good on the bike then they pack it in, madness.

Take some food with you and have a coffee break after 10 miles to warm you for the return
Will definitely start doing that thanks for the advice ^_^

Winter miles, summer smiles... Yep, winter riding is sometimes more challenging, but sometimes being the only one out there is reward in itself :boxing:

thanks everyone for your responses.

went out again today and covered approx 11 miles. Average speed 12.5 MPH.

Feel pleased and better then yesterday. Onwards and upwards and bring on the spring!!

Who cares how fast you are riding in Winter?

There is a reason all the Pro cyclists are in the middle East to race at the moment.....its warm.

Cycling is hard in Winter.
Forget the speed and just ride.

The thought of getting road salt all over my motorcycle, and therefore more time spent in garages getting rusty parts replaced does make cycling in winter that much easier for me. I do not drive a car, but I imagine that the same principle would apply.
