Muc-off removed my paint even though the label said is was safe to use on all painted surfaces! Use it with caution - better still, don't waste your money!

My chain isn't painted!

3 in 1 is a vegetable oil and will turn turn into big thick glup on the chain. It is best avoided even if it is cheap...

Vegetable oils have fatty acids. Fatty acids stick the oil to the steel.

I doubt if anyone will ever agree on whcih is the best oil for a chain. I've always used engine oil and that works for me so will continue doing so.

WD = water displacement
40 = formula 40

Er I know that and have known that since I was a kid what I was saying was to tundragumski as he was saying that WD40 is water soluble.

OK for cables, the teflon stuff's better.

To clean a bike you need a hosepipe brushes, sponges and a big bucket of warm soapy water.

I do the chains with a park chain cleaner and citrus degreaser or muc-off.

muc-off is intended as a general purpose bike cleaning solution, not just for cleaning your chain - as I said before, if you spray your bike with that stuff you might damage the paint!

I don't and if you read my post again you will see I was quite clear about using it on chains.

Oil chain rollers, spin a few times, wipe off excess. Done exactly the same on all my bikes for years. Don't ever use chain cleaner gadgets, and maybe just once a year, mid service life, of my commuters chain, do I degrease it.

Finish Line Dry mainly, but currently using a tiny drop of White Lightening Wet Lube on my commuters chain rollers - needs wiping off a couple of times, and isn't too messy !

I can see a little bottle of this lasting a long time !
