Come on girls...British cycling.needs you!!!
Classic example before I got my train this evening. I'm currently looking for a easily pack able waterproof. As a lot of women will testify we like to try things on to get the right fit as most women are not a standard size. Once i have tried it on I will usually order it on the Internet as its cheaper.
Tonight I trolled around 3 cycle shops in Victoria and totally failed in my quest. All 3 shops had a tiny selection of women's gear much of which was either baby blue, black, pink or purple and all of either xs or xxl size.
However in the men's sections which were easily double the size of the womens in all 3 shops there were loads of sizes and a variety of colours.
Had the same problem with gloves yesterday.
Drives me mad sometimes.
I can assure you that there is absolutely no shortage of stylish women's cycling clothing available. I know for a fact that it is possible to spend thousands on women's cycling clothing. Thousands and more thousands. Trust me on this. And now, if you'll excuse me, I see the postman struggling up the path, burdened by packages. The poor man looks quite done in.
And yes, wearing a helmet does make a mess of your hair.
Men's gear makes one's bum look bigDid you also try on any of the men's kit for size?
Well it certainly does to mine ....Men's gear makes one's bum look big
Women's lycra padded shorts make my bum look big.
There could be a reason for that...
@Hill Wimp think outside the box: think running, camping even fishing gear!
Easy packable waterproofs: amazon, bought a pair of waterproof trousers for a tenner 2 winters ago, they are starting to let water in only just now.
Mind, they were a tenner because of the bright tomato red colour, other colours are available at a dearer price
Or until you get the one you want.
Get a second opinion? If you don't like it, get a third!
Did you also try on any of the men's kit for size?
one of the women at work has just bought a Trek Lexa - http://www.evanscycles.com/products/trek/lexa-slx-compact-2013-womens-road-bike-ec041057
It's a lovely bike, costing over £1,000, but why does it need to have gold bar tape and flowers painted all over it? Any woman prepared to spend £1,000 on a bike isnt going to want flowers on it!
Reading the two reviews on Evans both of them say the flowers could have been a deal breaker, if the performance wasnt so good..
I understand.I did but the cut is all wrong, too long in the body and arms etc etc. I can of course pay a lot more and get a Rapha one but although Rapha is hugely popular it's not really everyday for the majority of female or even male cyclists.
I will get by i have managed it for all these years so far.
I understand.
I often use pat 5mph's method to look outside of cycling for gear that suits. It's taken years to find a suitable waterproof but highly breathable winter jacket to suit my requirements and ended-up with a Paramo Velaquez smock, for walkers! It's the dogs dooh-dahs ... but bloody expensive!
BTW, have you looked at Decathlon?
