Is £190 a fair price for a whole new exhaust, including a more expensive chrome bit on the end?

Thirty years ago I visited a small "under the arches" motor mechanic in Holland Park. London. There was a far-from-new Ferrari in for an exhaust repair so I asked the mechanic what that might cost the owner.

" About two grand".

Accy, you have a bargain.

Was the Ferrari in that bright yellow colour? :becool: If so it was worth it!! :okay:

I drive a Ford Ka, same as your Fiat 500 but different body also made in Poland alongside yours.
My exhaust backbox lasted ten years so I had a new back box with shiny tailpipe fitted for around £60. The whole system was just fine only the back box was replaced two years ago.

When you say whole new exhaust for £190 did that include the catalytic converter as well.If it did that was a bargain.
Petrol engined car exhausts tend to rot from the inside out due to there very no nature as diesel exhausts usually rot from the outside and tend to last a lot longer.
My rover had the same original back box on for 20 years before it gave up.

So that's 90 quid for labour. How long will it take to fit it? 🤔

half an hour at most, give another ten minutes to get it on and off the ramp.

I'm not bothered if he has added a few tenners on the bill.
