I am planning on getting an iPhone come contract renewal time in the spring and am also getting more adventurous in where I cycle - I am thinking thus a satnav type app for the bike would make sense. Which ones are best for the iPhone...if there is something that is as good as a dedicated satnav (I assume these exist for bikes!?), then I can certainly justify the cost of an iPhone 4S to myself :becool:

Recommendations for a good bar mount too - preferably something that clips on and off easily but is secure over all terrain - 3 bikes, would like to be able to switch the mount easily without fannying around with tools etc

navfree is a very good (and free) satnav for iphone 4. Other good ones I use more for motorcycling are viamichelin and OSGB.
MotionX-gps is a pretty decent one too.

+1 for navfree (in the app store )very good and easy to use ..my only gripe is its a wee bit slower than my tom tom to update (if u turn a corner or something ),,but for cycling (lower speed )its ideal

I have one (a SE Xperia mini pro) , really don't like it...want to be able to get rid of elderly iPod too onto one gadget

I have been witness to the sat nav on an HTC and it was awful (ok an older model but even so)

That said my little SE did get us where we needed to go when the traffic was snarled on the M25 and Mrs TomTom was at home!

I don't use any of the features really (I don't even understand what you said there about skin??), the web browser is ok but as slow as a slow thing. It isn't very easy to text on (as I had hoped with the little keyboard, I cannot text at all using the touch screen, end up with nonsense), I am forever turning it off with my ear when using as a phone. It's one redeeming feature is its size

I use an iPhone with a dahon biologic mount with extra mounts on my other bikes. Clips on and off easily and securely. I mainly use the cyclemeter app.
