I don't have one myself, but having played with the GPS/Google Maps integration on my brother's iPhone, it's pretty amazing. :boxing:

My bro has used his iphone's GPS to find places in London a few times - he's from Manchester..... he's happy - but make sure you take out a g'tee - he's on his 3rd phone....

It's utterly useless as you'll drain the battery in under 3hours and the thing becomes scorchingly hot.

It's fine for occasional checks or tagging photos but it'll never be any use as a bike nav or general leisure use and that's before you get to issues with fragility or lack of waterproofness.

Not the right tool for the job I'm afraid.

the gps in an iphone saved a guy in the mountains (french alps?) last week, cannot find article right now, but he managed to get his postion to them to dig him out, guess it must be good!

Presumably he wasn't actually going anywhere while waiting to be rescued....

If I was wanting to spend money I'd get the X1 or one of the phones that will surpass it.

Mates never had problems with their N95s and google maps/GPS. The GPS on the X1 drains the battery like crazy, it's pretty much like what two wheels good has said. That said it can be hilarious plotting your displacement from it into Google Earth.

the OP's post says nothing about attaching to a bike ?
it says 'time for a fone upgrade';) where do you get the idea that this fone is not the right tool for the job ? its a fone isn't it ?

The Nokia 5800 is better than the N95 by far in all respects . Its also a lot cheaper than an Iphone.

Its currently one of the top cellfone options
