Interesting...switching between road bike/MTB is quite a revelation....?

Both my rides this week Giant Rincon with slicks on,slow and lovely rides.

I am lucky to have all three but my hybrid sits all forlorn at the moment.
I started with a Racer ( yeah,I know... Roadie) then got he Hydrid then for serious winter commuting, the MTB.

I`ve got my Triban 3 for the dry days and my Orange G2 for off road and bad weather/winter. They are totally different machines and when I ride them i`m thinking "I should ride this one more often ". But both serve a purpose and both put a smile on my face . I couldn`t choose which is better . Cheers

I think most folk who ride mountain bikes would probably be better served by riding cross bikes/tourers tbh unless into to the more serious stuff. Round my way I frequently see full suspension expensive mountain bikes on fairly well built byways that my tourer copes with just fine. But horses for courses I suppose.

My Trek MTB has been round Cwmcarn and the black route at the top.

It does red routes in the winter when ice is about.

Although summertime i hardly touch it.

my mountain bike is primarily a commuter. It's probably too good for that but i wanted something that was robust and gave me a better workout on the commute than my hybrid.
My road bike is far and away the best and most pleasurable ride though.

Took our MTBs about 22 miles along the Marriotts Way today (11 miles each way, we'll do the other half tomorrow) and it was brill. Its the longest that we have taken our MTBs as yet and the ride was harder work than our mile munching roadies. I am pretty sure that the seat is more comfy though and getting up small muddy hills was definitely easier.
