The above article refers to molybdenum disulphide (MoS2). It's a fine powder delivered as a lube suspended in an oil or mixed into a grease or paste. It can be delivered via an aerosol solvent which evaporates leaving the moly particles on the metal. The idea is you then buff the moly into the metal. It is often called "dry slide" lube.
I don't use fancy chain lubes but I do have small quantities of moly lubes from fiddling with air rifles. I've never used it on a bicycle except some grease I used on bolt threads as it was handy. I do have a can of dry slide kicking about though which I've considered trying on a chain, but I doubt I'll bother.
