Absolute madness!
A similar thing happened when I was being given a lift from Hebden Bridge to work in Burnley about 20 years ago.
We were heading down
The Long Causeway from the Coal Clough windfarm when my colleague suddenly shouted
"Shiiiiiiittttttttttttttttttt!" I was about to ask him what was up when a car overtook us doing at least 100 mph. We were doing nearly 60 but he was out of sight of us within seconds.
That road is narrow, has sheep wandering across it and there are dangerously deceptive dips, blind summits and bends ahead.
Hang on ...
here it is on Streetview. If you proceed along the road you'll see what I mean.
A minute or so down the road, we found the car on its side on top of a dry-stone wall!
Three very shaken-looking young men were sat on the grass embankment below it
here.
My colleague stopped, leaned across me and shouted to the young men "Are you hurt? Does anyone require hospital treatment?"
One of them answered "No, we are all okay but could you give us a lift to Burnley?"
"You've got to be kidding
moron -
walk!"
