Inner tube Valve Length

Hi all,

I purchased a couple of innertubes with long valves (60mm) by mistake  . I don't have deep rims (just Mavic Aksium's).

Just wanted to ask if there is any reason why I can't use them on my wheels? They fit fine.

Cheers....

Just be slightly more careful when pumping up your tyres if using a pump that pushes onto the valve. The extra length of the valve will allow you to more easily stress it where it goes through the wheel. Not a major problem, just be aware.

Wheel balace is the real problem. jut make sure that when you start riding that the front valve is positioned opposite to position of the rear valve. ie, front at 12 o'clock, rear at
6 o'clock. This will balance out vibrations.

The valves on my wifes Specialized Vita Elite do not have an external thread (so no securing nut) so when you try to attach the pump it just pushes the valve into the tyre. Whats the point of that?

I actually find the longer threads much easier to use when I'm pumping my tyres up with a track pump. I made the same mistake once - no problems whatsoever - although the cross winds did slow me down by about 0.0001mph!!

The tubes take a little longer to inflate because of the extra distance the air has to travel
Could mean all the difference in a life or death situation, which is the very reason I carry a big pump, and my tubes have the shortest possible stem
You can never be too careful

What to do is place the valve floor side rather then on the side etc.
Press down on the wheel/tyre and it will solve your problem.
