Inner tube sizing

Got my first puncture on the new bike today
sad.gif

What I found really strange was that the tube I took out seemed much thinner (diameter) than the one I replaced it with...will it be ok? The original that came with the bike was labelled 700x20/28c, the one I replaced it with was just labelled 700x28c. Thought there wouldn't be a big difference but there was!
Is it ok as long as the tube meets the requirement of the tyre/wheel or is it better to have tube that has a thinner/wider diameter (sorry I know this might sound a bit confusing..or even just thick!!!)
Many thanks,
Russ

What width are your tyres ? your original was suitable for tyres ranging between 20mm & 28mm wide where from what you say your new one is just suitable for 28mm wide tyres. If you have 28mm tyres it isn't a problem, it'll be a little wider uninflated but thats no problem when inflated.

Thanks HLaB,
Does anyone know if there's any difference in ride/rolling speed with the different sizes?
