The Muddy Fox padded shorts from Sports Direct are great if you like the feeling that you're constantly busting for a whazz while cycling. The waistband appears to be specifically designed to apply high pressure to ones widdle bag. I swear I've added an extra 2mph to my average just because I was keen to get home to the comfort of my own porcelain.

Bibshorts / tights are amazing. I paid £40 for some CycleChat bibshorts and £40 for some Tenns bib tights, both are lovely and I can cycle at a leisurely pace, ignoring 90% of secluded hedges.

But with bibs you must always keep an eye for the stopping place to get almost naked to have a simple whizz.

+1
spot on this. I love my new bib but it is not for the urban enviroment, could think of nothing worse than having to strip off in McD's bogs with god knows what all over the floor.

I started out with Muddy fox gear and was very happy with the shorts and jersey, but stay well away from anything waterproof, you might aswell use a bin bag with 3 holes cut in it.

I was wetter on the inside than the out!

You mean you don't carry a cyclists' catheter?

Seriously though, I don't have a problem pulling 'things' around to widdle, unless the temperature is very low, in which case I don't have the 'reach' I normally do.

The older I get, the faster I used to be ...
I've a pair of bib tights with zip in the appropriate place. Very sensible. Surprised they are rare.
For inexpensive kit - Decathlon. Worth a day out. SD fit is a complete lottery.

As an aside.
Is there much, if any difference between cycling jerseys and tights and running tops and tights?
Just been surfing and the running gear is definitely a damned sight cheaper.

Try Start Fitness online.
Their gear it very keenly priced and you can't go wrong with the More Mile stuff starting with cycling Jerseys for a tenner.

I have a number of MM jerseys and shorts and socks

You will be all right with running gear. I use Ronhill base layers and jackets. Tights wise, running tights won't be padded, but other than that should be okay for cycling.

Mountain Warehouse's cycling and running gear is pretty good as well. Most of my stuff comes from there, apart from padded bibs.

As long as I breathe, I attack.
Cycling specific gear tends to have longer backs on the jerseys and ron hill bikesters for example have a higher cut on the back to counter the gap you might get when bent over cycling compared to non specific gear.
I use running tights over shorts and really need to make sure my base layer is tucked in or i get a drafty back.

not with the AmFib Pearl Izumi bib tights i've just bought - they've got a handy er...willy flap, in the mesh so you don't actually have to get out of them to pee...although, i've not tried to have a pee while wearing them and the distance between willy and willy flap does seem rather...ambitious? or maybe that's just me eh?! :shy:

I would suggest squatting, but you don't want an accidental reverse of the 'surprise wee when having a poo' scenario that us fellas get. It seems a bit of a liability as you'd be in the, er, birthing position
