Last night the microwave combi oven decided to err... go on fire...

I put the switches to preheat the oven and within a couple of seconds acrid white smoke started billowing out of it and filling the kitchen. As I was there I could switch it off at the mains and managed to do so before flames developed. Had to open the windows to get rid of the smoke & fumes.

B*gg*r: as it gets used a lot.

Good job Argos have a sale on and I can purchase a new one for less than half the price paid for the one that's just gone up in a very large cloud of smoke!

Mrs AL melted our microwave a few months back - she had put some potatoes in and hit the wrong buttons for the timer, kitchen was filled with smoke and the potatoes had set on fire.

Waffles, I wasn't even aware that you had 'fire brigades' in Norfolk.
I thought you all had to make one of those human chains from the nearest available stream using buckets, pots and pans.
