I've got a good 7 mile loop I do for shakedown cruises, general fitness, and some personal time trialing. It has some climbing, some hills, some trails, some roads, and some neighborhood riding, all of which can be easily extended in many directions. I enjoy it, but if I have more time, I ride some other routes. I find it is good for me, because at least I ride that much, when otherwise I may not be getting out at all. Life places constraints on our cycling, so we have to make the most of the time we have, generally.

I had a short ride of 1 hr 2 mins yesterday so I think that almost exactly matches the spec ! Had a big weekend of rugby this weekend - played on Saturday lunchtime, then 2 end of season presentation Sat teatime and evening, finally coached my U15 team on Sunday morning, followed by a some more beer to top up the amount taken on board on Saturday, Needed to clear my head yesterday afternoon so put the roast in the oven and then out for a quick blast. Cogenhoe, Gendon, Easton Maudit, Castle Ashby, Denton, Brayfield, Cogenhoe. Lots of lovely quite country roads, Northamptonshire is a relatively flat county but this is a bumpy ride for me - 568 ft over 13 miles. Average speed only 13.4 mph but the legs were pretty heavy after the game on Saturday (that's my excuse anyway). This is a great little loop for any one in the area. Looking forward to seeing the speed increase as I get more miles under the wheels.

I have been trying to do 3 or 4 rides a week in the local area, most of which are around the 10-12 mile mark with varying elevation gains. I'm usually out for under an hour and that fits in with my fairly busy schedule even though I'm retired and had more time when I was working!

30 minutes, 14km, 4 short climbs, 4 straights. Pretty much two rectangles joined together ridden like the number 8.
