I did wonder about this, especially after Roadkill named some villages on the route and said it was lumpy. That suggests they hit the back lanes towards Winch, which certainly would struggle to hold a large and loose group of riders safely.

The start was a nightmare. We thinned the bunch down nicely at Stockbridge, the ride up Stockbridge road put the hat on it. The group was much more manageable by the time we got to the Cathedral.
