Been having issues with the front dérailleur on my Specialized Tricoss not being able to move the chain up onto the big ring of my compact.

Followed all the tutorials and videos that have been mentioned here and elsewhere, and the best that I could get was that it would move up (just) but anything past the 5th cog on the rear and the chain was rubbing on the dérailleur cage. :cursing:

Finally, decided to go back to basics and check every component, and it turns out that the cable had slipped out of half of the cable guide under the bottom bracket. Undid the cable clamp on the dérailleur to allow the cable to be loose enough to move it, put it in the cable guide and re-clamped the cable and all sorted.

So, check your cables all the way when trying to adjust your front dérailleur and you might save yourself a few hours of frustration

It can be a slight adjustment of the limit screws or maybe cable tension. My one some time ago had this problem and it was a very slight adjustment of the limit screws.
