If fiddling with the spoke magnet doesnt fix it try scraping the metal contacts that stick out the back of your computer connecting it electrically to the corresponding contacts on the bracket.

Cleaning the ends of all 4 contacts (2 on computer 2 on bracket)with a knife blade brought mine back to life.

Better to buff the contacts with a piece of chamois leather. It requires a little more energy, but you run less risk of damaging the contacts. A smear of grease on the contacts after cleaning prevents the problem recurring.

Vaseline is slightly conductive so could be good, or anything will do just to help stop corrosion.

That's what I'm using - a dab on the computer contacts and also the slides they press into. Works a treat, however grime does get in there so do wipe off and re-apply after a while to keep things nice and clean.

My speedo stopped working...cause, rust. I cleaned it out, sprayed a bit of ACF50 in, then super glued it (I never remove it) to seal it, although maybe blue tack would seal it if you ever wanted to disconnect it.
Anyway, 6 months on, after riding in all weathers, it still works fine.

..and I thought you meant my PC..

I know why my cycle computers don't work. The batteries went flat in 2008. I'll get some more one day.

Does it matter if you scrape the contacts though? not arguing, purely interested in what harm it could do.
