I have a Ridley Pegasus and the performance inspires brand loyalty. They started off painting frames so you get a top finish, fantastic looks especially the sharp edge technology tubing and well made frames.

Having said that the Eos is very heavy for a road bike (23lb if you get a starter level groupset/wheels) and the reputed comfort level of the bike would indicate that you don't get the zip and feel of a lightweight bike. You have to watch yourself with the lighter top-end aluminium bikes as some(like the Pegasus) are super stiff all through the frame so that road vibration can cause annoyance - the better quality ones will be strong around the bottom bracket and more relaxed elsewhere.

I think I'm correct in saying that the Ridley is 21lb, and the small frame should be a little lighter again.

Still weighing things up in my head. Got only three bikes to choose from. Here they are with the prices I can get them for.

Ridley Eos - £765
Wilier Escape Xenon - £720
Giant Defy 2 - £745

Which one would be the best deal in your opinion? Which one is better equipped?

The reason I ask is that I personally cannot look at the specs of each of these bikes and see what components justify the extra cash, apart from the Tiagra and Xenon gearsets.
