If there's no white line do you have to stop at a red light?

I rarely stop at a red light if on an empty road with good vis in all directions and I am turning left.
The only reason you would stop is blind obbeyance rather than any safety consideration.

There you go call me names report me to interpol whatever.

This must have made for interesting cycling on your day out with angelfishsolo.

My ex-girlfriend thought that temporary traffic lights were only advisory as there was no white stop line on the road.

ex-girlfriend? that's a bit harsh isn't it, anyone can make a mistake!

I had to laugh on a recent sportive when i was in the middle of a group of 30 riders when we came to a small hill with temp traffic lights on Red, without a moments hesitation half the group all when straight through into a single lane between the kerb and a concrete wall, the next thing about 20mtrs in they all stop and all have to squeeze on to a really thin path, as a car came through from the opposite end on Green and refused to be intimidated and held there ground as 30 riders all waved arms and moaning squeezed through.

No, the other reason is to avoid reinforcing negative stereotypes.
