Considering that most of it probably only costs a few pence to make, the difference isn't all that relevant.

Especially as it would cost a bit to fly over to the US to stock up on cheap LEDs and pot noodles.

There is, or at least was a year ago, a 99p shop in Letchworth.

...get down there and see if they have the LED ankle bands my local one does. 4 red LEDs in a reflective band with velco fastening and a button battery. Not only good for wearing round your ankle (and keeping your trousers neat), but riggable as a spare or back up rear light if needed - I had one already and have just bought three more so that I can stick them in bags and pockets and be sure of always having a rear light with me.

Poundland don't seem to have them all the time unlike some lines, so if you see them, get one while you can.

Hell, for a quid, maybe we should all get one and give it to the next unlit numpty we see....

Cheers Arch:becool:;)

Do you know how we are ripped off in this country?

In Calif', the same Chinese stuff is readily available in "The 99c Store".

That's 60p at the latest rates ;)

Agree 100%

Check out "deal extreme" to see how we get ripped off for lights - when someone just sticks a brand name on them.

I bought a couple today. Put one round the back of my pannier rack. Going to get some more though. If anyone lives near Salford, the Salford precinct store currently has loads in (and they've been in for a few days).

How bright are they? Any good? Have you got a pic of them in the dark?

Somewhat better than any budget lights I have seen for less than four quid;). Not sure if they are waterproof though, tend to use another bike when it is raining.
Not great at night photography but there you go.

I always check out the 100 yen shops in Japan - that's only 65p and seem to offer better items than our pound shops, including lots of cycle accessories.

Best bargain I got in a Pound shop here was 50 button batteries - still using them in cycle computers, watches, and so on.

Use silicon sealant, glue or grease to waterproof the torches. A thin line around the edge of the lens and all openings should sort it. Swtches might be more of an issue.
