...get down there and see if they have the LED ankle bands my local one does. 4 red LEDs in a reflective band with velco fastening and a button battery. Not only good for wearing round your ankle (and keeping your trousers neat), but riggable as a spare or back up rear light if needed - I had one already and have just bought three more so that I can stick them in bags and pockets and be sure of always having a rear light with me.

Poundland don't seem to have them all the time unlike some lines, so if you see them, get one while you can.

Hell, for a quid, maybe we should all get one and give it to the next unlit numpty we see....

Poundland is quite a handy shop! I got a map case, for the bike...it's not really the right size, but could still come in handy. Their puncture repair kit allowed me to help someone out last Sunday.

I've got a nice little white board too (it is cheaply made!) .... and they've got the cheapest milk I can find (I'm sure the farmer does get screwed though).

They have other bike stuff, although I suspect the multi tools are made of cheese metal.

Really, with bike light sets (ok, the front is probably a green one), and packs of a dozen batteries, each for a pound, there is no excuse for anyone not to have at least a rear light.

There was a piece on Today this morning about the middle classes 'discovering' poundshops. I've been using ours since it opened - you get to know what's worth it and what's crap, and a pound is virtually free for many people!

I've got a QD multi tool...(QD is another cheap shop, not a pound shop...but the multitool was only like £2). Just like with every multi tool i've owned, the screw came out....so I've glued it back together and it works fine!!

Their batteries are fine too...I bought some of the rechargeable ones for my bike lights. Not had any problems with them!

Am not sure whether we've got a Poundland. We do have a Pound Shop and something similar (will have to check the name) & Home Bargains in my local shopping centre. I did buy some of those yellow things last year & keep looking for some more as I'm always losing (misplacing) lights.

Good shout arch handy to have in emergency, can never be too well lit.

I've just wrapped one round the back of the rack on my Galaxy. Instant second rear light to back up the clip on Smart light. With a bit of thought you can attach them to most things - jackets, round arms, ankles, bits of bike, probaby through vents on helmets too. A few grams of weight, and easy to stuff in a pocket or the smallest bag.

I think Aldi also have them sometimes, although they work out more like £2 each...

Haven't got a "Poundland" but the Pound shop near me has Microfibre type cloths and they're excellent for bike polishing. 3 for a pound and a half.

Do you know how we are ripped off in this country?

In Calif', the same Chinese stuff is readily available in "The 99c Store".

That's 60p at the latest rates ;)
