Dont have to wear an id card but I will have one anyway for keys or something.

They are great for putting lock keys on. I use the clip in my panniers to attach them to and they can then reach the locks easily without losing the keys. I also have one around my neck on tour with a lock key on.

Employees of big firms and local government wear them with identity cards attached while doing their shopping at Sainsburys, IME! Why, I have no idea.

It's their way of bragging to the dolies that they have a well paid job so don't need to hang around waiting for the short dated stuff to be reduced.
