I remember seeing this once. Where is it on, I have no Sky channels, only freesat?

Is anyone else secretly wishing that Hugh "Polar Bear" Rowland's truck will go crashing through the arctic ice into the murky waters below (preferably with fat Hughie strapped in it screaming for forgiveness)?
I stopped watching because hating that arrogant f*ck was giving me heartburn. No secret at all.

...and I feel sorry for Drew because he just seems to get pushed around and treated like sh*te by the likes of Fat Huge Rowland. I'd be p*ssed off too if that was me.

First series was ok and entertaining, 2nd series was awful. Every load was mega important or the whole drilling/mining operation would stop, every trip could spell disaster...but nothing ever happened....very dull

I loved this show, but agree that toward the end of the first series I began to lose interest, I think there's only so far you can go.

If there was more and better footage of accidents it would be good. It would be great to see a truck go through the ice, but hope not with the driver, unless it's Rowland!

Would be nice to have more scenery shots from a helicopter too!

And I really liked the young guys from the first series, it's a shame they're gone.

So, Rhythm thief... Ever thought of doing a season on the ice?

I don't. These guys get payed huge sums of money to get on with it and get the job done. They get payed more than normal truck drivers because more is expected of them. Drew is just a normal truck driver who wants the money his betters can command.

In the last series the heater in Drew's truck packed in. He told his boss, Hugh, and Hugh told him to take it to the shop and get it fixed. Did he? Nope. He just kept moaning to Hugh about it, expecting Hugh to stop what he was doing and sort it out for him. When he finally threw his toys out of the pram and went home Hugh fixed the heater in no time and drove the truck himself!

In this series Drew arrives in the antarctic without a coat! Think about that. Do you think that if you were going to the antarctic you would forget to take a coat? Then, when he hasn't been given a load on the first day he's there toys leave the pram again and he quits, again. Who's fault was that this time? He's a spoiled man who's not the kind of guy who is going to cope in such an unforgiving environment. He wants everything handed to him on a plate, I've worked with people like him and they are a pain in the butt.

They're filming in a different place this time, that's why the people from the last series are missing. Only a few of them went.

I think they make a big fuss about nothing, all they have to do is avoid hitting oncoming trucks doing 20 mph and stay on the 50m wide ride road. I feel sorry for the diver filming from under the ice everytime a truck leaves the depot.
More viewers have died of boredom in the last series than truckers on the ice road in the last 20 years, it more dangerous to watch it.

I was watching it for the trucks but the drivers got in the way of a lot of the filming so I stopped watching it.

Heh, it reminds me of when I used to live in Canada... it can be quite an experience when it's -20 and the windscreen wiper fluid is freezing onto the windscreen, and there's about 5cm of snow on the motorway, so you can't see the lane markings, and the ditches at the sides are helpfully full of snow, so you don't know where the edge of the road is...

Wrong driver. That was Rick.

He was sat there for three days.

Either you were watching a different program or you're just too thick to see when someone's being p*ssed around.

:biggrin:Not for me, thanks. I'm long past the stage where I have to drive top notch kit or do exotic jobs. Trundling up and down the M6 every night is adventure enough for me, if it pays the bills.
