Well I’ve had the operation, decompression and the rotary cuff tear repaired. Lots of screws and anchor bolts!!
The whole thing went well until after the opp. Everyone was late and went home forgetting to give me a prescription for pain killers!!
The block wore off at 6am and the pain is something else.
Wife has a two hour drive back to the hospital for the pain killers😥
Pain killer on its way 😉

Sorry to hear about your less than ideal pain management. May be worth stocking up on prunes/prune juice or laxatives and having a plan for a step down pain killer from your GP (codeine/co-codamol etc)

Ouch! Why did you have it done so far away from home?

Recover well, I don't remember having anything more than co-codamol and being advised ibuprofen to take. Though mine was decompression, partiall thickness tear 'left alone, as I gave it a good tug and it didn't snap so it should be strong enough' as well as a 'bone spur' trim? Though no bolts or screws added.

you may want to 'trim' your photo as it has what I'm guessing is your name and the hospital you had the operation on at the bottom...

Indeed. Having had two shoulder OPs, don’t assume the block will last the full 18 hours either.
Have the strong stuff and the ice ready.
Also, the private hospital may well only give you 1-2 weeks worth so make sure you can get a repeat from your GP if needed!
Tried the internet and they have shut off every form of contact 🤷‍♂️

It was the only bed available if I wanted the operation done quickly. My surgeon squeezed me in. It’s surprising how their work ethics are similar to mine. Everything is on a price, go go go!!🤣

What I’ve done from the beginning was half dose every two hrs. After the 48hr period I’m going paracetamol every other two hours and keeping the morphine every other two hours, but still half dose.
If that doesn’t work, I’ll have to pay for an online doctor for a strong pain killer prescription 🤷‍♂️

Think you should consider registering with a new GP...

I assume you are 'stretching' out the morphine with the half dose, or are you half dosing, but more often to keep the level OK.

It's good stuff, but it will dry your skin out as well as cause constipation. I was on bucket loads of the stuff after I broke my spine (let nature heal it so took longer) but after three weeks, my skin on my feet literally fell off, and I was moisturising hands and face daily. I left hospital with a few weeks supply, but managed to make this last alot longer, always having a 'stash' for pain flare ups, which, I think, lasted me a 'year'.

Did you not get a response via your GPs online system?
Agree that a change of practice does seem to be in order. You can check online which practices covering your postcode accept new patients. Read replies first…or you could ask on Nextdoor if feeling brave 😜

Apparently it’s the same around here for everyone.
I took your advice and managed to get hold of some codeine and I’m having some paracetamol with them as a step down from the Morphine. I need to feel the pain a little so that I know how good it’s recovering, if that makes sense.
Thanks for your great advice ❤️

I’ve just come off the Morphine, so hopefully I can put up with a step down drug of Codeine (also addictive with side effects) 🤣👍
