Something I've had a lot of success with is a vibration plate. After a hard session I sit on the thing for 10 mins and my muscles feel a lot better afterwards. I picked one up off Gumtree for £50. I think they are probably a bit of a waste of time for their original purpose, but for recovery they work for me. I've had sports massage, rollers of various types and various other bits of kit over the years. The vibration plate works best for me.
