The older I get, the faster I used to be ...
I carry 2 CO2 cylinders, Topeak Micro pump, 2 spare tubes, and patches to cover all contingencies (I hope!)

I'm not really being funny about the CO2 issue. I believe in being self reliant when out on the bike and having a limited amount of CO2 means problems if you run out. Once you start carrying lots of spare cylinders to avoid that possibilty, you have lost any significant size/weight advantage over carrying a pump. Decent pumps are not that big and heavy, and you can pump a tyre up to about 100 psi pretty quickly and easily. I regard CO2 inflators as a solution in search of a problem.

C02 is brilliant for non faffing about and getting back on your way again.
But it's wise to also carry a mini pump.

If you are carrying a pump as well, yes, shorter bad weather repairs sound good.

My mate got everything wrong - careless, only 2 tubes, only 2 cylinders, no pump, no puncture kit ...

I use the pump to find the puncture and then the co2 to inflate the tyre . I don't have a pump on the TCR though . It doesn't seem right to put one on it but then its a bit daft not too .

I used to swear by my Co2 Inflater, loved it. until the day I was 30 miles away from home with a puncture and it decided to give up working. luckily I was rescued by a felloew Cyclist who loaned me his compact pump. Ive reverted back to the good old pump now. never lets you down, and it doesnt cost you money to use it over and over.

Hmmmmm.... interesting discussion. I can't say that I'm filled with the same ambition to own one now.

They are very, very useful bits of equipment.
If you want to save a little time and have less faffing whilst on the move then get one.

If you are happy as you are without one.. then, well don't bother.
