I've always had great service in the Newcastle branch - and did again yesterday.

I arrived in the middle of a busy Saturday afternoon - kids trying out bikes for size, adults drooling over new bikes, a queue of people at the till...

As soon as I walked in an assistant asked if he could help. I explained about my noisy freewheel and could he take a look. He quickly decided that a replacement was needed. At that point I figured I'd need to leave the bike with them for a few days so they could do the repair, but no - "If we've one in stock it'll only take five minutes to change".

And sure enough, ten minutes later I'm back on the road with a new, silent freewheel. And they didn't charge for the fitting!

Can't get much better service than that!

I've had quite the opposite in th same branch... came out with 200 bill for something I thought would be an easy fix, and the tyre they'd put on popped off the rim halfway home. And the guy I dealt with was surly and unhelpful!

Not been in the Newcastle branch, always found the Manchester one really good, but I think any shop is only as good as the assistant who serves you.

I've always found the Newcastle branch to be brilliant too, I buy 90% of parts / accessories from them (other 10% at Evans if EBC don't sell it) ... I've always had first class service from them, by far better than I ever had at the Metro Centre Evans store
