Thanks everyone for you support.

It really is an amazing feeling and one I really never thought I would achieve.

It's safe to say the cycling bug has bitten and bitten hard. I do think I need to get my backside and weirdly the palms of my hands used to long rides the legs back and neck were fine this morning but my buttocks are aching and the outer part of my palm near the wrist is a little tender even with cycling gloves and brand new bar tape.

I definitely think the 75k and 100k are more than achievable and really feel I could easily tick these off by the end of the summer.

I do like the idea of a 50k a month challenge for 2017 would definitely be up for that.

Sounds like a bit of adjustment to your bars might sort out the hand pain. when i started cycling 10 miles was an acheivment now i do a 50 without thinking about it, heres to a long hot summer of big rides

To be honest I think I just put to much weight over the bars at the moment that's the beginner in me. I have the hoods angled quite high as I was struggling to get comfy when they were positioned more foward which has helped massively. I think it's just a case of toughing the hands make them a bit more manly and not soft and girly. The downside of having an office job and not being a mechanic I think.

Sounds like your ready for a ride out to the Blue Egg, 35 round trip from Bromfield, the cafe is a bit of cycling hub

If you're definitely going to stick with cycling, consider having a proper bike fit done. I had one after about 20 years (!) and the minor changes made to my position have made my cycling life much more comfortable. With the benefit of hindsight I wish I'd had a fit done much earlier.

Well done btw:okay:

Well I am shocked ended up doing another 50k today 31.4 but Strava decided to give me 31 so just under 50k.

First time out in bib shorts and wow so much more comfortable. Kept a base layer on under the cycling jersey and that seemed to keep my warm. Knees started to feel the cold maybe a little premature for shorts but hey the weather was great.

Ironically I ended up cycling past there earlier was going to pop in for a coffee but it was way to busy and I was in the zone.

Not sure I could of added another 10miles on to today's ride I think at the moment 30 is the limit but I am sure as the weeks go by 40 and then 50 will come and go as quickly as the 30 target did.

Well done on keeping going

The first time you try a longer distance just ease back on the speed a little to make it easier. The faster speed will then come naturally as your fitness continues to build. Don't forget to take enough food with you on longer rides, dragging yourself back when running on empty is very hard going!
