So back in October last year I got back on the bike after 15 years of inactivity with a promise to myself to get fit.

The plan was to get out as much as possible during the winter and build up stamina and strength with a target set to do a 50k ride in one hit by the end of summer.

Well I can certaintly say it has worked, over a stone loss in weight and I have today gone a hit my target or riding 50k in one go and on my own. To say I feel great is an understatement. In the past 3 weeks I have now completed 50miles in 2 rides last week I had no choice but to leave the bike alone as I had pulled my shoulder.

I have no idea what the rest of summer will bring but maybe a 75k target and then the big 100k by the end of summer let's see.

So to all of those people who at school mocked me for being big and the pi55 takers I have worked with over the years here is two fingers up at you.

Well done, I remember doing a 50miler and couldn't walk for a few days!

May cycling bring as much to your summer as it does to mine
Thanks. Yeah I am sure I will be feeling it in the morning but I quite like the pain it makes me realise I have actually done something.

I am sure the summer will mean we will all be on our bikes as much as possible I know I will be.
