I bet they are. But they don't know what they're missing!

I was rather enjoying our banter though, to be honest. Go on, say something else about Macs that's wildy inaccurate yet tantalisingly inflammatory! I'll play along!

Apologies Mr Pig, it seems that all your thread are belong to us now.

Every person I've ever known that has used a mac gives it pride of place in their:

-study
-kitchen table
-if they have a small place on the hall table

Anywhere everyone can see it in the hope that someone will notice it and ensure a conversation along the lines of:

a: You've got a mac!
b: Well, oh ya, it's just a little thing I picked up because i got bored of....

Well, I think you can do better than that. 'Pride of place'? 'Hall table'?! But okay, here goes:

***

Only in your world, Ab, is the fact that somebody owns a Mac so outrageous that it might be used as an incredulous conversation starter. And what if a BSD user leaves their laptop on the kitchen table? Do you assume they're aiming for the same reaction? What about Linux and Windows users? How is where someone uses their laptop in any way relevant?

***

No, I'm sorry, that was half-arsed at best. My heart's just not in it any more this evening. Maybe we can play some more another time?

You said it. A conversation starter about an incredulously priced toy.

I didn't want to say it, but I'm actually quite instinctive about industry and especially technology trends... but apple are likely to be a high profile victim of the credit crunch.

Apple, loius vuitton... luxury goods and fashion companies will go first.

Like Woolworths and MFI. Yes, your instincts are sharp indeed.

I'd agree that Apple are at the 'luxury' end of the market. Part of the reason they are perceived as being more expensive than other PC manufacturers is that they don't cater to the cheap-and-cheerful end of the market. At all. But at the pro- end of the market, they are priced favourably compared to other brands.
