Well done from me over here, its a great feeling when you reach your target..
The problem with riding any distance is doing a little bit more would always be good for some reason or other. For instance on my my last ride in October I did an extra lap of the crescent to nudge it over 20 miles - 20.01 to be precise. This made me happy until I did the stats and found my yearly milage was then 4099.98 milesnice one, another 0.5 miles and you would have got a metric half century.
In that case I would have gone out again even if it was a monsoon.Could have been worse, like 3999.98 now that would have been a p*sser.
me too, I would go outCould have been worse, like 3999.98 now that would have been a p*sser.
My ultimate goal is to ride a 61m sportive in August, and so I am gradually building up my distance with that goal in mind. That's fantastic. It's a great feeling when you meet the goals that you've set yourself. So......what's next?
Just remember to start off slowly/comfortably for the first 5-10 miles, after that warm-up you'll end up passing a bunch of riders who rushed off and are struggling now, stay relaxed and let the bike eat the miles up.My ultimate goal is to ride a 61m sportive in August, and so I am gradually building up my distance with that goal in mind.
Ah Miles, not m (metres) my mistake, apololgies
nice one, another 0.5 miles and you would have got a metric half century.
There are other units in which you could claim centuries and half centuries.
For example, after 20.12km you can claim a furlong century. After 27.43km you have travelled a kilo-shackle. 50.3 km is a 10 kilo-rods (or poles, or perches) 114.3 km is 100 kilo-ells.
For serious audaxers, 241.5 km is a half-century of leagues.
If you track your climbing then after 1830m of climb you can award yourself a kilo-fathom.
Edit: in the 10 mins since I posted that I spotted 3 errors. I've probably replaced them with different errors, and left some other errors.
