I can't find the (London?) advert telling cyclists to ride wide in narrow streets...

Friad I can't. The emphasis is on the comedy, for 32 secs out of a 42 sec clip, not the safety message.

And I think the nicewaycode sucks.

I think both those vids put a good message across... humour can be useful attention grabbing tool. Problem is, the average "you don't pay road tax" type is going to see them and think 'bloody cyclists' before muttering something about their licence fee be wasted. Some people won't listen and learn simply because they don't want to.

I agree with the bit about the OP Greg, but that particular "niceway code" vid looks good to me. I don't support the ads on the back of buses, which are just plain wrong, but this seems OK. Is it all bad because one part of it is misguided?
Is the whole redeemed by one small part?

Of course not
Dang. I was hoping for some sort of homoeopathic redemption for the whole sorry mess that is the nice way.

As for the horses thing... Let's just say when the local race stable have their string out on the local roads, I often see them on my commute of a morning, the way the drivers treat them/pass them here? Well, I'm glad I'm a cyclist,

My 'fave' online comment when someone mentioned these elsewhere

"Well I don't live in London so it don't apply to me."

Nice point. We may not agree with TFL's ads, but at least they're making an effort. And you have RoadSafe - things are moving.

Why isn't anywhere else in the country making any effort at all to educate drivers (and cyclists)?
Because our great fracktastic internet-blocking big government doesn't like big government.
