I did once clean my block, chain and chainrings so they were really really clean.
Went out the next day on a long club ride and the 45mins i spent cleaning them was wasted as they just didnt look as clean.
Now the chain gets a good clean when i oil it and wiped down after a ride. The frame is mainly clean, the rear mech is abit dirty in the bits that dont touch the chain and the bits i cant get to with the toothbrush are not so clean either.
My excuse is its because i only have one bike.

I cleaned my summer bike and the commuter yesterday. I'd forgotten how easy the carbon on the summer bike was to clean. Both bikes have got power links on their chains. The KMC on the good bike came off easy. The SRAM chain on the commuter didn't so I just used a chain cleaner in the end.

I think the last time I really cleaned my bike was in 2006. It has only needed dusting off since then.

Half my car got washed last week when it came back from the repair garage, it seems petty not to have washed the other side after they fixed it.
