I've been having loads of health problems since the beginning of December and the worry of what might be wrong with me is almost as bad as the symptoms. Just wondered if anybody has ever had hypotherapy for anything other than smoking. I'm just about at the end of my tether.......

Sorry to hear that, bobg, but have you seen your doc about it yet before going down alternative routes?

Yes. It didn't work.

Hypnotherapy seems to be effective for many people for things that you don't have to do at all and are largely habit - smoking in particular - but much less effective for things that you do have to do but shouldn't do to excess, like eating.

If you are 'at the end of your tether', don't forget that depression, for instance, is easily treated medically and serious if untreated. For milder conditions proper relaxation techniques are very effective and a whole lot cheaper than hypnotherapy. Ditto fresh air and some sustained exercise, if your health problems allow.

I would start by seeing your GP about it. That's what we pay them £120,000 a year for. My next step would be relaxation/meditation. I went to my local FWBO (partly because I wanted to find out more about Buddhism) and very good it was too. http://www.fwbo.org/contacts/addresses-uk.html Not at all weird and I came away a much saner and better informed person than six weeks before.

Yes I can, Yes I am, Yes I did...Repeat.
I was hypnotized a few times...I was forced to do a series of presentations to large groups ...I hate that...I am ok with a guitar slung between me and an audiance but to stand up and talk about technical work shite...n0 way....anyway the plan was to reduce nerves and turn me into public speaker number one...I was given a 'trigger' which in my case was 3 short intakes of breath and then I would lose my nerves and be able to 'talk in confidence'....I did the talks...but I dont think I did them any better than I would have done before the hypno sessions...in fact I would say they were a total waste of time.

BUT....

Subliminal messages are a different thing...ever tried mixing your own messages into your favourite music?? They work.

I've had coughs for longer than that. Why not just wait and see if the health problems go away on their own?

Thanks all, looks like hypno is probably not an option. Dont want to wallow in self pity but
slow loss of the majority of use of left arm'hand since the beginning of December, followed but inability to stand for long on the left leg followed by 2 trips to the doc, 5 hours in A& E with a suspected stroke which proved to be unfounded. Same problem but not so severe in the other leg and arm followed by tremors in the hands that wont go away followed by an emergency trip to the neurology dept at the hospital ( terrifying) - who could find nothing....only a month ago I felt fine, just goes to show:wacko: Maybe there should be an "on the way out forum" just for me. Ms BG been excellent, me I'm just a snivelling coward... Further test results awaited... looking forward to it with anticipation:eek: ... not

If you pop your clogs* can I have your bikes please?

But I wish you a speedy recovery in the meantime.

*any idea why we say this?

Sounds like a tough time Bobg. On the positive side, all the test are neg. so far, that's good. Do you think it's in the mind? It can be a powerful, powerful thing. Take it easy, one step at a time.

PS I'll have seconds on the bikes
