I seem to remember reading that more people suffered from over drinking during a marathon than under drinking.

Water intoxication or something like that, I take a bottle but doubt I would touch it on something like a 20 and never carried a bottle for a 25tt for a 50 I did.

Over hydration (diluting the levels of sodium in the blood to a dangerously low level) is known as Hyponatremia although you'll do well to achieve that on a 43 minute ride ;). More for the endurance efforts and even then you have to be going some with the water. I buy a cheap electrolyte powder from my protein for all day efforts but most bars/gels/drinks have electrolyte content and plenty of the food offered at organised events has salt in. An excuse to eat crisps if ever you needed one.
