After three years of riding my specialized cross trail, I think I'm about ready for a change. Don't get me wrong, I don't think I can fault the current bike, but I want to try something different. I'm not sure what I'm looking for, however, I want to be sure the bike can be used on roads and gravel paths. To be honest when I bought the hybrid, I thought I'd need suspension forks, but I've hardly used them. So I'm looking for a bit of work horse (commute 36 miles round trip 4-6 times per month and weekend rides 40 plus) drop handle bars, but more upright like a hybrid. An all season bike. rack and mud guard compatible, £600 - £1000. Any suggestions appreciated.

If I were in the market for another allrounder, I'd be looking at a Planet X London Road.
As it is, I'm not looking as I have a Planet X XLS but I'd have a London Road if anything happened to him.

I got a London Road build it yourself yoke just before Xmas and it's rather lovely though I've been used to gumtree classics up to this point.
I was a bit worried about the modern-ness of it in terms of building it as I am used to stuff that can be put together with a hammer but it was fine. There's a good series of videos on YouTube by a guy called Erwan Compes.
I'd quite like to do another now. Maybe a mtb next time.

Thanks again all, at least I've got some ideas now. I think I hit lucky last time with my hybrid, I'll be honest i just liked the look of it. I'm so pleased with this forum. I don't really know too many people who own bikes, let alone get to talk about my obsession. There are a few good bike shops round about, but I never feel at ease.
