Cant really use a road bike where i live due to the paths along and near the canal. They would ruin a good quality bike.I have a tatty 26 mtb and just missed out on a bargain mtb on Gumtree today. Intended to upgrade my tatty mtb ,just not worth it lol. So o thought about a cx but havent alot of cash spare at the moment. Could just manage a Carrera Crixus 11,even thats pushing it. So .....thinking of putting drops on my old steel Ridgeback. Its a 3x7 with a 50 big ring. Would need STI shifters, ahead conversion, stem, bar and cables etc. I think it would work and i may just be happy - for now lol. Anyone else converted a hybrid ?

I have, with a very similar frame. I went with bar end shifters for cost and reliability. I had to get a long ahead converter to get enough height in the bars, along with a short stem.
