I am looking for a Hybrid to use mainly for fitness/leisure with an occasional long ride. I am not overly familiar with types
of components fitted so need a bit of help. I have chosen a Hybrid with for both an element of comfort and performance
in mind

I have been to several local cycle shops and are considering

Fuji Absolute 1.0 seems well spec at £750 all the similar price bikes from well known manufacturers do not seem to have
the same quality components

Boardman Hybrid Pro at 1000K, seem very high spec although the thought of buying from Halfords terrifies me

I have looked at various Trek, Cannondale and Scott varients which don't seem as good spec.

Is there any help advice or otrher options anyone can give, I am based in Essex and don't mind travelling up to 40 miles to a good
LBS

Thanks Phil

Hi Phil,

My daily ride is a Cube ltd comp hybrid, about £500.
I cut and pasted the spec below.
I knock out over a 100 miles a week on it, some longer rides at the weekends, of over 100 miles in a go, and tho I've added some bits and bobs, it's done me proud.

I ride the Boardman Hybrid Pro reguarly. Don't let Halfords put you off. As I understand it most Boardman bikes are pre-built and all Halfords have to do is straighten the handlebars and stick on a set of pedals! Alternatively kindly request one "in the box" and do that yourself!

Got mine about 6 weeks ago. Just checked and adjusted (where required) everything once home. It's a fantastic piece of kit. The only downside I've found so far is the poor tyres. If you get a Hybrid Pro it would be worth investing in some that are a little more puncture resistant.

As an alternative, I recently got a Felt QX85D for £399 down from £700 from Rutland Cycles. It's more of a hybridised mountain bike rather than hybridised road bike, so probably a little heavier. Compared to something like the Trek 7.5FX, which retails around £700, having Deore all round, the level of gear is better. I got the disc brake version but there are other variants at lower prices.

Hi

I ride one of these Cube and cant fault it it. Throw some slicks on it and it will fly. I paid very near the £1000 rrp for mine in 2010.

I had a drool over one of these the other day at On Yor Bike at London Bridge - a very impressive spec - disk brakes, SRAM rival gearing, carbon forks and British designed (and you'll barey see any around) - Cycling Active gave it 88% in December http://www.cyclesuk.com/product/Stirling_2011_W11ST3L-1 That is a great price IMO for that bike (OYB had for £900 I think). CyclesUK have a few stores in Essex http://www.cyclesuk.com/article/stores. Large fits from around 5'9 to 6'2 They also have the very nice looking Cambridge http://www.cyclesuk.com/product/Cambridge_2011_W11CAM1S-1

I have the Boardman Hybrid Comp, I have had it for 6 months and have no complaints at all, really is a very good bike. Closer to a road bike than an MTB.
