Hybrid bike with hub-gear???

Hello, I have been using a Specialized Globe Comp IG8 for the last three years and I absolutely loved it! It got stolen about 3 weeks ago, and I am really missing it for getting around. I cannot find a similar one anywhere (used or new!) so I am searching a new similar bike and I wondered whether anyone could give me some advice???
It needs to have minimum 5, ideally 7-8 hub-gears (cannot manage looking after the external gears), relatively light weight (city cycling so I am stopping and starting constantly), women's model (I need to step-through frame), ideally a hybrid bike, and a large size frame (21"-23"). My budget is about £5-600.

Any suggestions for good bikes with the above spec???

Hi fairweathercyclist and :welcome:

To get the ball rolling how about something like the Ridgeback Avienda, Dawes Geneva or the Viva Juliet?

BTW.

A 'Hybrid' is called a hybrid because its half way between a sports bike and an MTB. No one could think of anything better to call it.

Its got 700C size rims, a sports geometry frame but MTB gearing and flat handlebars. "MTB gearing' means more than one chainring and more than two sprockets with parallelogram mechanisms to move the chain sideways.

The hub gear ( Sturmey etc ) on a 26", 27" or 700C rimmed 'step through' bike is one of the oldest designs you will find. HRH the Queen Mother rode one during the war.

Nowadays, any bike that is not a Roadrace, Tourer, MTB or small wheel shopper / Folder is called a 'Hybrid'.

My wife gets on with her Dahon Cadenza 8. That's within your price range, hub geared, flat barred, low top tube, well balanced.

Plus it folds if you need to stash it indoors.
