Yet another newbie looking for advice on buying a hybrid...

I plan to use the bike 80% on road and 20% on countryside paths, etc, probably 5-10 mile trips. My budget is £250-£300.

I've narrowed the list down to four;

Ridgeback Cyclone, £250
Felt QX65, £275
Carerra Subway 1 or 2, £220 or £280

I read somewhere that the Ridgeback may be a little heavy, but can't find out the weight of the bike. The Subways are from *that shop* but seem to have good reviews.

Any advice, opinions, etc would be appreciated.

I live in the Basingstoke/Reading/Newbury area so any recommended bike shops would also be appreciated.

Find a Local Bike Shop (LBS) which stocks them, try riding all of then and then buy the one that feels the best. At the end of the day only you will know which is the best for you...

There is a sticky thread with LBS recommendation at the top of the forum, you might do a search of that...

And have fun :evil:

I visited a few local shops, read thru this forum, did some research on the web, and decided on the Ridgeback Cyclone. Ordered it on Monday from Evans Cycles and it arrived this morning. I've been out riding for an hour or so, I'm *really* happy with it.
