I'm going to take the smartphone plunge, but I'm opting for the Orange San Francisco from Argos for £90 - it has Android, Wifi, GPS etc., and can be unlocked for free.

With a GiffGaff SIM, £10 will get you 250 mins, unlimited texts and unlimited internet.

I'm on my Wildfire right now and I find it to be brilliant! since I got mine, the wife and two of my friends have seen it and bought one. They love it too. as it happens, the wife moved to Tesco and I have tariff envy. One month rolling contract, 500 mins, unlimited texts and 500mb internet for the same tennera a month for which I get much less on Vodafone. Note that the handset is not included in this so you would need to buy that on PAYG.
