I would be asking them what they've done with the photocopies of my drivers licence and passport they took when I opened the account.
Didn't they return all documentation used in/for verifying the account?

I took the originals in with me, and they photocopied them. I'd like to know what they've done with them if they ask me for id.
They'll have the copies stored(in paper form) as long as you have the account with them.

Trying to find the right ones wasn't easy after six months. I'd have to put a request in, countersigned by my manager, who'd then send the request off for the required paperwork.

I seem to recall I had to offer ID to prove my identity before Coutts would let me deposit my billion there.

Having proffered my ID at this point, I'll be damned if I'm going to show it to those cads again. Do they thing I've somehow transformed into someone else in the intervening period?
How did they react when you handed them a billion Iran Rials?

Then I would be asking where the papers are? If theyre claiming they've been disposed of I would want to know on what date, where, by what method, and by whom. I've entrusted them with copies of sensitive personal documents in order to be able to open the account, and they have a lawful duty to store and manage that information in a secure and accountable manner.

We had digital records, the paper records still used but a pain in the ass to get. As described before.

Think of checking the signiture(s) and you'll see why they're retained.

I received a letter saying HSBC can no longer provide banking service for my business. It turns out I had filed a letter asking for safeguarding details. One letter a month prior to this letter.. I told them they should have rang me or asked the branch to stop me next time I was in. NO, they said they sent two letters... Oh no, it was one, I file everything!
After some research about the safeguarding procedure, I have discovered some problems and since the HSBC said they would not be revisiting their decision in the letter, past problems with head office procedures and closing branches. Despite their apology and asking me to fill in forms etc. I have now looked at other banks... A number of which have cheaper charges, and RBS had a bank manager rather than having to send me to a head office for a business manager... or deal with online or telephone banking, so goodbye HSBC hello RBS.
The sad thing is the branch its self was good but they are closing due to customers not going in, and yet the banks don't allow the branch to provide a full service. Its a shame the staff at the HSBC branch suffer due the head office and the bank safeguarding system inept performance.

Not a Bank thing, but a Virgin account. It seems they are having a problem taking my monthly payment out.Would i confirm all my details by following the blue highlighted link.

Real funny that cos i don't have a Virgin account.

Sorry Nigerian Prince,but nice try.

Branches are disappearing like politicians promises in Penistone. Considering the council has granted planning permission to increase the population of the place by over 5000 you'd think a few customers would make it worth keeping a presence.

There was a recent story where by using the passport and details, they changed the ownership of the house at the Land Registry and hen sold it

A common scam in Nigeria; many houses and compound walls have the warning daubed on them: "This house/land is not for sale, Beware 419".
