Thanks for the heads-up, RR. May I now blame you for the small fortune I've just spent on Merino?

You wont need to. You'll get an email from Howies saying 'sorry, sold out'... at least, that's what has happened to me on the previous 2 occasions I have tried to order sale stuff from them.

i have found howies merino to be off dubious quality. it becomes misshapen where my other top from icebreaker, is still in fine fettle after many hours riding and skiing over 3 winters now

I am curious.

How can a base layer get to be misshapen (if that's a word). As long as it wicks, keeps me warm and does not smell shape seems to be optional.

Whatever at £27 its worth a punt.

I hate it when howies have sales. It's always at a time when I have just about managed to save a bit of money for something else. I can't seem to stop myself from buying their stuff. I might have to take myself off their mailing list so I'll never know when their next sale is.

I'm exactly the same. And I've fallen for their very clever and evil T-shirt of the Week idea.

Well my order just arrived (I had been worried they were going to cancel as they tried phoning whilst I was out but left no message), my main worry is washing the top, I thought I could only dry it flat... but it seems to say I can tumble dry on low...

Is it likely to shrink or stretch? I bought the 14 but think I could of got away with the 12 size.

Yes, if you wash it too warm it will shrink and become very tight and very hot to wear!

Don't ask me how I know.

I have a merino top and a pair of jeans from them waiting at the post office. Damn their sale, and my weakness!

I got an email from them yesterday saying that they've just dropped the prices again in the Carnaby street store and are going to do the same on the website in a few days.
