I have an Edge 705, but from what I can gather they haven't changed the way Virtual Partner works. Set up a course, if you use bikeroutetoaster (for one at least) it will give you the option of setting speeds on the flat & climbs- apart from giving you an idea of how long it'll take to ride, that data will feed through the virtual partner & give you target times. Make sure the VP is switched on in the options, select the course from the Training menu (not 'Where to'), and the VP data will be there on screen as you ride.

To use the VP without entering a route, eg just to set yourself a pace/speed target try this.

If you want to use the VP with a route you've previously ridden;

menu
courses
create new course
select a ride
tick
chnage name
select course
go

VP will use previous ride data to set pace. Use + or - to change speed of VP

Another way is to go into workouts, create a new workout and keep it simple by setting only a distance or time that you plan on riding for, start the workout and as mentioned previously, just alter the VP pace to suit yours.

Thanks Alan, thats it now. Not sure if the page was down or problems with my laptop.
