Down the Canal...There is nothing but puddles......I dont mind them, infact, I love them

BUT after 12 miles my feet are soaked and if its cold they start to bloody well hurt too

Im looking at waterproof socks and waterproof overshoes.......both in combination should do the job

but again, what do you guys recommend ?

Thanks

I reckon in wet weather the majority of the water getting into my shoes gets there by draining downwards from my legwarmers (perhaps I should try a recumbent)

I haven't tried waterproof socks yet but I do use overshoes, in heavy rain I gain a bit of extra time before the feet get wet but that's all.

Having said that I absolutely would not be without overshoes during cold wet winter days. It's nice to finish a ride and still have feeling in your feet.

I've just got a pair of these:

http://www.wiggle.co.uk/pro-endure-h20-multi-fit-overshoes/

and they seem to do the job. Plus they're the only ones that fit my size 14 feet!

They had some of those Castelli ones in the LBS so I bought them. Just a few pence more than the Wiggle price with my discount.

I'm looking forward to some really filthy weather now.

I've found trying to keep feet dry is not worth it.
They are going to get wet with your own sweat anyway if you try to seal water out.

If it looks like the towpath is going to be shitty wet, take a small towel and spare socks.

If your shoes get plastered in mud, there's a canal full of water to wash them with.

I really can't see the difference between paddling in a river all afternoon and a wet bike ride?

Ah, Lympstone camp.....

Issue is, my feet REALLY hurt when cold and wet, so much so, my speed DIES on its ass, so I gotta try
