Whether you are training for a sportive or simply enjoy cycling for fitness, adopting a structured training regime alongside a healthy and varied diet is important. As we all know it is very easy to overindulge at Christmas, and before you know it the festive period may have left you with some unwanted pounds and you spend the whole of January desperately trying to lose it as the cycling season fast approaches.

So here's some useful information to help you get through a ‘Calorie-neutral Christmas’ or at least give you an idea of what is required if you do slightly overindulge this Christmas.

I'm racing in the National Champs on January 11th - that pretty much kills any thoughts of indulging, never mind over-doing it

As a keen cyclist I pretty much burn off all the calories I consume, whatever I eat, and sometimes even under-caloried for a day or two. So I munch on what ever I want all year round. Christmas ...... over-indulge? PAH! I over-indulge for twelve months of the year!

more aimed I`m sure at the serious cyclist, however, for me its the alcohol  However don`t go to daft inbetween, and even Xmas day can sometimes be fairly dry. Note no mention of the cheese and biscuits ^_^. Geezo gonna be cycling for a long time.

Its winter, its miserable, a little bit of what you fancy does you good, I'll eat and drink what I like and worry about it later.

Over indulgence all the way for me, quite frankly, I deserve it.

Thanks but no thanks. I think I'll pass.
I don't over indulge especially in the cake department. I try to stay away from them.
