So long as they drive around you as they shout it'll be fine. If they shout and drive over you, well that's just not the British way.
What they should do is say "Erm, do you mind awfully if I just ruin your day?", there should be a clearing of the throat at the start of this sentence. Once they have run you over it is polite for them to comment on the weather....

Thanks u all Guys, ur comments cooled me a bit down!
in reply to sittingduck I have to say that when they shout at u mother ...... it doesnt mean that I have kids, it means that they swear at my mom :cursing: that makes me sooooo angry! Suppose Im doing wrong, why do they swear at my mom?!!! This is the only things that I cannot bear
Anyway, I think there r two options as terry_gardener said I have to try and ignor them
THanks all:rolleyes:

Welcome aboard, Parastoo! You hear accounts of abusive drivers and even more abusive passengers but, in my experience, the ''Get off the road!'', ''You don't pay road tax!'' kind of abuse is actually quite rare. Most of my riding is in London where there is a good number of bikes on the road so perhaps that affects things. It might be different in smaller towns and cities but even so I don't think it's been a problem for me. Inconsiderate, distracted or aggressive driving is a different issue.
Thanks for ur welcome dear, but it is not true Im paying road tax, caz I have a car but when Im in central London yes I dont pay congestion caz my car is electric G-Wiz so while Im paying my road tax and Im not driving, I ride!
I think if they give us more room and facilities on the roads, yes why not, Im sure we all will agree to pay road tax though, dont u agree?

Edited your post there Parastoo - please don't use swearing with d....o....t....s.... in between the letters :ninja: That's you told off !

Seriously, smile and wave - it either totally confuses them, or they lose it and get themselves worked up. Really funny.

Yes I can, Yes I am, Yes I did...Repeat.
The best thing to do is to look them in the eyes and laugh at them...or like i do make a gesture with my hand like they are all talk and no guts...kind of an open closing mouth thing...whatever you do dont let the drivers get to you...they are mostly ok but the odd loser asswipe shouldnt be allowed to spoil your cycling...you have as much right to be on th eroads as a car does.

The 'You don't pay road tax' one makes me laugh because I do pay road tax actually as I own a car ;)

You don't pay road tax because you own a car, you pay road tax because you pay council tax, which is where the funding for roads comes from. You pay car tax, or vehicle excise duty, on your car.

Hi,

I'm completely new in this country and in cycling, I need to know how should I cope with unrespectful people when they shout at u hey, mother .... get off the road!!!!!
if u want to ride on the pedestrian police will fine u and if on the road, people will shout at u!
any ideas?

Thanks

Thats a question I am also looking for an answer, except I dont get that when cycling though. Truth is I cant. I get angry and will often shout or argue back and get tempted to punch the idiot!

I was stood at the side of the road eating a KitKat last week during a bike ride. Someone yelled something as he passed.
He didn't seem to require an answer so I elected to carry on living my life without unnecessary baggage... and carried on eating the KitKat.

Is that a good philosophy?
